Laboratory Classroom Update - Queen Margaret College

Wellington, New Zealand

We were engaged by Queen Margaret College to refit their science teaching classrooms and associated staff prep room. The scope of work involved reorganising the classrooms to provide more efficient and flexible teaching space, fitting new joinery, flooring and replacement of windows. Other work included the addition of eye washes to improve the safety of the students and to replicate services seen in university laboratories in which they may study in the future.

We worked closely with the school and contractor so that the building work was undertaken and completed to minimise disruption to the teaching programme. All site visits and inspections of the existing rooms were undertaken out of school hours and design and documentation was completed during term time so that construction could commence at the beginning of school holidays.

The refurbished rooms are safer and more pleasant to teach and learn in and are more appropriate for teaching science in the 21st century.
