Macaela and Joanne attended the opening of Tane te Wairoa (NIWA Hamilton) on a cold and frosty morning in Hamilton at the beginning of August. The building was opened by Dr. Ayesha Verral, Minister of Research, Science and Innovation by revealing the impressive anchor stone and 6m long paddle. The opening was made all the more special with the display of partnership between Tainui and NIWA.
Tāwharau Ora - School of Veterinary Sciences has received awards at both the Te Kāhui Whaihanga, New Zealand Institute of Architects Western Architecture Awards and the New Zealand Commercial Project Awards.
Our Christchurch studio has gained a new member - Joanne Kelly.
Joanne has relocated down south for the next year and plans to hit the ground running.
Massey University’s new veterinary science complex has been blessed and is now open for use. Kaumatua Manu Kawana and representatives from Rangitāne o Manawatū led a dawn karakia, waiata. Key members of Tāwharau Ora, the College of Sciences, and those involved in the design and construction, attended the ceremony and walk-through of the new facilities.
Lincoln University’s new Science South Building won a Gold Award at the 2022 NZ Commercial Project Awards in the Construction Marketing Services Education category. Completed in 2021, this new facility offers a base for the university’s researchers to continue their critical work in helping Aotearoa transition towards a more productive, low-emissions economy.
It’s with mixed emotions that we announce and celebrate the retirement of one of our founding directors, Ron Pynenburg. His career designing brilliant architecture has challenged the status quo, and after 40 years he’s stepping back from full-time involvement.
Lab-works Architecture takes great pride in recognising the success and professional development of our hardworking team. We are delighted to announce the recent promotions and changes to our senior management team with Mark Holmes and Melissa Edwards becoming Principals and Lien Bui becoming an Associate.
It’s with great pleasure we announce that Mark Holmes and Melissa Edwards have been appointed as Principals. Over the years both Mark and Melissa have contributed to and led a number of key projects with strong collaborative and leadership skills while producing the highest standards. They are joining our current Principals of Lab-works Architecture, Joanne Kelly, Jody Seabright, Ken Collins and Ron Pynenburg.
We take great pride in announcing the appointment of our newest associate, Lien Bui. In 2020 she joined the Lab-works Architecture team as a Senior Designer and in her short time with us has helped create the collaborative and positive working environment we all enjoy.
The new Te Ohu Rangahau Kai facility, located at Massey University’s Manawatu Campus, won at the 2021 NZIA Western Architecture Awards.
