Lab-works Architecture and Studio Pacific Architecture are proud to have received a NZIA 2018 Western Architecture Award for Education for the new Wildbase Hospital and Administration building.
Working in collaboration with Studio Pacific Architecture, Lab-works Architecture designed the hospital facilities within the new 3 storey building that centralises services for the School of Veterinary Science and the Wildbase group at Massey University in Palmerston North.
The building includes a main reception, common room and office accommodation on the upper two floors and on the ground floor is New Zealand's only dedicated wildlife hospital providing care and treatment of native wildlife including birds, reptiles and marine animals.
Lab-works Architecture were responsible for the spaces to care for animals including the main treatment room, wards, an intensive care unit, isolation room, surgery theatre, private patient treatment room, display ward, feed kitchen and laundry with supporting write-up and store rooms.
