AgResearch's PC2 Glasshouses Win at the NZ Commercial Project Awards
AgResearch’s PC2 Glasshouses won at the New Zealand Commercial Project Awards on Friday, 20 November. Congratulations to the entrant Isles Construction and the project team who won the Industrial Category and received a Gold Award.
Lab-works Architecture was the lead design consultant and worked in collaboration with L2D Architects (Melbourne) and NDY (Brisbane) who provided specialist Glasshouse advice and assisted with the masterplanning.
The new facility, which was completed in 2019, comprises a single Header House connected to two separate glasshouses each comprising three rooms to enable different projects requiring varying conditions to be run concurrently. As this was the first time that these extremely technical requirements were being considered for a glasshouse in New Zealand, the design team worked closely with the Ministry for Primary Industries to ensure compliance.
The outcome has been a ‘state of the art’ building which successfully incorporates architectural, mechanical and structural requirements alongside client research requirements.
